About

About Peak Roof Pros

We are a referral service, not a roofing contractor. That distinction shapes everything on this site, including what we are able to say plainly that a company selling roofs cannot.

The Short Version

What this site is

Peak Roof Pros publishes research about roof damage — how hail and wind damage is identified, how insurance treats it, and what the twenty-year storm record actually shows for the county you live in. When a homeowner wants work done, we connect them with independent, licensed and insured roofing companies in their area.

We do not inspect roofs. We do not repair or replace them. We do not adjust insurance claims, and nothing here is a coverage determination or legal advice.

No Mystery

How we make money

Roofing companies pay us for connections. Homeowners pay us nothing, and the fee does not change what a homeowner is quoted.

This is worth stating because it explains our incentives and their limits. We are paid when a homeowner and a roofing company are connected — which means we have no stake in whether you file an insurance claim, which shingle you choose, or whether a job turns out to be a repair rather than a replacement. Where our interest and yours might diverge, we say so on the page.

The Part We Do Ourselves

What we research

The storm figures on this site are our own aggregation of the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information Storm Events Database, covering every county-coded hail and thunderstorm-wind record in the United States. We compile it, publish the thresholds we used, and re-check it against the source rather than citing a number someone else compiled.

Everything else — how deductibles work, what state regulators say about contractor conduct, how claims move — is written from primary sources and linked so you can read them yourself. Our editorial standards set out the rules we hold ourselves to, including what we do when we get something wrong.

Boundaries

What we deliberately do not do

We do not sell roofs

No crews, no trucks, no inventory. A page that tells you a repair is probably below your deductible costs us nothing to publish.

We do not rank by payment

Our guidance does not recommend named companies, so there is nothing to buy a position in.

We do not publish invented figures

Every number traces to a source we name. Where a figure is a market range rather than a measurement, the page says so.

We do not chase storms

We publish the record of what has already happened. We do not door-knock, and we do not contact homeowners who have not asked us to.

Before you call anyone

The independent match — we are paid for the introduction, not for the size of your job

Most roofing advice is written by the company that wants to do the work. That is not a failing of the people who read it; it is a defect in who is talking. The estimate, the diagnosis and the invoice come from one party, and no amount of care on your side fixes that.

We are built the other way round. We do not repair roofs and we do not sell materials, so the payment reaches us when you are connected to a licensed, insured roofing company — the same amount whether your roof needs an eight-hundred-dollar repair or a twenty-thousand-dollar replacement. Nobody here has a reason to talk you into the larger number. How we make money and how we research are both written down.

Waiting is the one thing that actually costs money. An insurance clock runs from the date of the damage rather than the date you noticed it, and damage that sits through a season stops reading as sudden and starts reading as wear — which is the exclusion that pays nothing. And if your roof is simply worn out, say so on the call. No claim will pay for age, we will tell you that plainly, and you will have lost nothing but the call.

Advertising disclosure: Peak Roof Pros is a free referral and connection service for U.S. homeowners, not a roofing contractor. When you submit a request we connect you with independent, licensed and insured roofing companies, and we may earn a referral or advertising fee — at no cost to you. Nothing here is legal advice or a coverage determination: what your policy pays depends on your policy and your state. If a roof is actively leaking into live electrics, or a structure looks unsafe, contact your utility or emergency services first.
